Senior Platform Engineer
Burner is empowering people to take control over their primary channel of communication – the phone number. As Sr. Platform Engineer, you will be a key member of our engineering team building the next generation of mobile privacy tools. You will work closely with the mobile and product teams to architect new features and build out fast, scalable backend services.
Our team members are encouraged to embrace new technologies/frameworks and find the best tool for every problem. We are currently making use of Scala, functional programming, and TDD to develop new services.
Responsibilities:
Build fast, scalable features on the server side to support the Burner mobile app
Work closely with the telephony providers and industry established groups to implement best practices
Maintain and improve existing infrastructure, and be willing to jump in when things break
Skills + QualificationS:
At least 5 years of experience working with JVM languages
At least 2 years of experience working with Scala, or other functional programming languages.
Experience building microservices and distributed system
Experience designing highly responsive REST APIs
Experience working in a small team environment
NICE TO HAVES:
Experience with Postgres and Redis
Production experience with Go, Ruby or Java.
Experience with a telephony provider such as Twilio / Bandwidth / Level3 etc
Experience working on telephony or VOIP systems
Experience with fraud detection in high volume messaging systems
Experience with implementing analytics pipelines
